NEW MUGA FOR CEFN GOLAU TOGETHER
Cefn Golau Together – the Invest Local Group in Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent – are progressing with plans to build their MUGA (multi-use games area).
The group asked the community what they would like to see happening their area, and activities and facilities for young people featured among local people’s ideas.
To get the MUGA from idea to reality, the group are working alongside the local council and Game On Wales – an initiative from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to build better health, skills and self-esteem through sport.
The current sports area on the estate will be replaced by a safe, modern MUGA, which will be open access – anyone from the community can use the court for sports from netball to cricket to football. The local leisure trust are also working with the community to design and run a programme of activities on the estate once the MUGA is installed.
The community have been involved in the process from day one – there’s currently a vote on the Facebook page to decide what colour floor the MUGA should have.
The all-new MUGA for the estate should be ready to go in the autumn, so watch this space for photographs from the launch event.
