CAERAU VOLUNTEERS HONOURED AT BRIDGEND MAYOR’S CITIZENSHIP AWARDS
Three hardworking volunteers involved with community groups in Caerau have received the Mayor of Bridgend’s Citizenship Awards. Christopher Davies was singled out for his contribution to Caerau Men’s Shed, which recently became a registered charity, whilst Graham and Janice Dawe were praised for their involvement in the Caerau Development Trust.
They were presented with their awards alongside other outstanding volunteers, charity champions, and pillars of Bridgend neighbourhoods at this year’s Mayor’s Citizenship Awards ceremony, organised by Bridgend County Borough Council.
The Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Councillor John McCarthy said:
“Each year, the residents of Bridgend County Borough are asked to nominate those local heroes who have put their community on the map, or regularly go the extra mile to make a real difference through their voluntary work, charity fundraising or all-round good citizenship.
“The standard of nominations was extremely high and it was certainly a tough call to decide who should receive awards. It was really humbling to hear about the winners’ achievements and I was thrilled to present them with awards to give them the appreciation they deserve.”
Caerau Development Trust described the ceremony as “A great day for the community of Caerau and the Llynfi valley.”
Christopher Davies said of his award, “There are many more that I know of who would deserve this! I’d like to dedicate this award to the people of the Llynfi valley, whose tireless work helps to make our awesome community a better place to live!”
